    好色的国会议员戴维·迪尔贝克（伯特·雷诺兹 Burt Reynolds饰）是迷恋她的客人之一。一晚，艾琳被一个酒鬼纠缠。戴维上前用酒瓶痛打了那个酒鬼。然而这一幕却被艾琳的一个迷恋者拍下，不仅戴维的身份随之暴露，戴维也开始遭受他的恶意敲诈。然而没过多久，敲诈者就被人谋杀，溺尸水塘。警探加西亚（阿曼德·阿山特 Armand Assante饰）奉命侦办此案。在抽丝剥茧的调查过程中，一连串的意外事件也随之而来。
