◎简　　介
　　　　德国人玛丽娅（汉娜·许古拉 Hanna Schygulla饰）和赫尔曼（克劳斯·洛维斯奇Klaus Löwitsch饰）的婚姻在乱世中注定了动荡飘摇。在赫尔曼上战场之后，玛丽娅等候丈夫回来的心从焦急变为绝望，德国战败，赫尔曼大概也在前线牺牲了，玛丽娅只好嫁给了一个黑人军官比尔（格雷戈·伊格斯Greg Eagles饰）。然而，在玛丽娅的心中，赫尔曼永远是无法抹去的至爱。                                    
    奇迹发生了，赫尔曼竟是没死，他的回来引发了和比尔之间的决斗。慌乱中玛丽娅举起凶器，杀死了比尔。这项谋杀罪赫尔曼自愿顶了下来，赫尔曼的入狱，令玛丽娅再一次陷入了无尽的等待。                                    
    富商奥斯瓦尔德（伊凡·德斯尼 Ivan Desny饰）对玛丽娅照顾有加。她不仅拥有了自己的事业，还因为和奥斯瓦尔德一起而得到了安定的生活。尽管如此，狱中的赫尔曼始终让她牵挂，玛丽娅和奥斯瓦尔德之间达成了一项协议……
