　　　　キャンペーンの最中にキャンペーンガールのユウは、スポンサーの好色な専務白雪恭一の魔手から逃れようと、自動車からとび出した瞬間、後続の車にはねられ、死んでしまう。街にあふれる看板やポスターや写真や音楽をそのまま残してユウの魂は東京上空へと舞い上っていってしまった。広告代理店の担当雨宮文夫や白雪たちは、事故をひたすら隠してキャンペーンを続けることにし、後始末に奔走する。一方、天国に昇ったユウは、白雪とウリ二つの死神コオロギをしっかりだまして地上に舞い戻った。しかも、事故の知らせを聞いて右往左往している文夫のマンションに現われたのだった。唖然としてうろたえる文夫。ユウはユウで戻ったものの、自分はもう死んでいることになっているのだ。家にも帰れず、学校にも行けない。文夫は、そんなどこにも帰れないユウと同居しながら、ユウの事故死の後始末をするはめになってしまうのだった。ちょうどそのころ、だまされたと知ったコオロギは、ユウに付きまといながら、あの世へ連れ戻そうと説得したり、おどしたりと奮闘するのだった。それでもユウはけなげに、新しい自分として一から生きてゆこうと頑張るのである。文夫はそんなユウがいじらしくなってきた。このままユウを抹殺してしまうのが耐えられなくなってくるのだった。文夫は、死んだはずのユウを白雪の所へ連れて、茫然とする白雪に、事故現場の写真と引き換えにユウのキャンペーンを続行させる取り引きをもちかけるのだった。その夜、やっと自分を取り戻したことを感じたユウは天国に行くことを決心し、コオロギと共に東京上空を舞い上っていくのだった。
