◎简　　介
　　　　法医大卫（雷·利奥塔 Ray Liotta 饰）在勘验现场发现了与他妻子被害时相同的线索。大卫决定展开调查，但一直没有取得突破性进展。直到他结识了一位神经学教授玛莎（琳达·费奥伦蒂诺 Linda Fiorentino 饰），她正在研究一种特殊配方药剂，可以将老鼠的记忆力进行移植。                                    
    玛莎的研究引发了大卫的兴趣，他决定尝试将死者的记忆力注入自己体内，以了解凶案的经过，帮助找出真凶。在试验进行时，凶嫌与警方对峙时被击毙，使得大卫失去了唯一的线索。为了继续调查，他决定借用已故凶嫌的记忆，希望能够找到下一个线索。然而，在这个过程中，大卫意外地发现了一个牵扯到自身的巨大谎言。他的调查逐渐揭示了一个错综复杂的阴谋，牵涉到他自己的生活和身世。
