　　　　作家卡洛斯•卡拉斯特长久以来一直专注于美国著名小说家欧内斯特·海明威的研究工作，其中海明威在巴西那段时间的经历扑朔迷离，令他焦灼不安，甚至忘记了自己的生日。此后不久，他走访相熟的旧书店，从自称店主人朋友的陌生人手中接到了一份破旧的手稿。初步调查发现，这个用西班牙语写成的手稿《哈瓦那的黑暗》，极有可能是海明威亲笔所书。书中描写了某栋房子中曾发生过的凶残杀人案，令卡洛斯不得不与现实中的案件联系起来。在朋友约翰及其女友凯伦（Carolina Ravassa 饰）的鼓励下，三人启程前往古巴。                                    
    调查过程中，卡洛斯似乎离黑暗的真相越来越近，可是他也发现自己正被恐怖的存在引向毁灭……
